If you need a photo or logo that was placed in a sheet, find the file that existed before it was inserted. The copy in Excel may have been resized, cropped, compressed, or given visual effects, so it should not automatically be treated as the master.

When the original cannot be found, select and copy the picture into an image editor, then inspect the pasted result at 100% zoom. This will often preserve more useful detail than taking a screenshot of the Excel window.

Use JPEG or PNG for a photograph depending on the destination. Use PNG for a logo, text graphic, or transparent asset. Support and rendering differ by operating system and application. Before final delivery, convert to PDF or PNG and check fonts, line weights, fills, and transparent areas. Retain the workbook or pasted vector-like object as the editable master.

Step 4: save an Excel chart at high quality

Export the chart object rather than photographing the screen whenever possible.

  1. Select the chart.
  2. Right-click and choose Save as Picture.
